Fit by style

Compare with a piece you own
Lay a similar garment flat without stretching it. Measure straight across the chest just below the armholes for tops, or across the relaxed waistband for bottoms. Measure the length from the high shoulder point to the hem for tops, and the inseam from the crotch seam to the leg hem for bottoms.
Flat garment measurements are different from body measurements. Keep the measuring method consistent when comparing two pieces.
